Parenting Apart: Effective Co-Parenting

Parenting Apart: Effective Co-Parenting. If you are a parent getting a divorce or a never-married parent separating from your child’s other parent, or an extended family member seeking custody of a child, this class is designed for you! The state of Tennessee requires divorcing couples to complete 4-hours, parenting education. Lawyers often recommend, and judges often send other caregivers to our classes. Certificates of Completion are given once the class is completed as proof of attendance.

To Attend:

  • Register and pay fee at the Extension office, or download and complete the brochure registration form and mail it with payment to: UT-TSU Extension, 1331 McArthur Street, Manchester. Fee waiver available with proof of indigency.
  • Class fee: $40 in advance, or $50 day of the class. Cash preferred. Please bring exact amount. Make checks payable to: UT Extension, Coffee County.
  • Couples (plaintiff vs. defendant) are strongly encouraged to attend separate classes.
  • Child care not provided.
  • Group classes are held once a month at the Extension office, located in the Coffee Co. Administrative Plaza.

Girl Talk

It’s a girl’s night out! This workshop brings together mothers (or guardians) and daughters ages 9 through 12 years in a fun and friendly environment to learn together about sexuality, body changes, male and female differences, pregnancy & fetal development, parenting responsibilities, family values and decision making. It is designed for small groups (12-15) and is taught in four, 2-hour sessions. Fee: $30 per family.

Matching Mind and Body

Mindfulness is a hot topic, but do you know how to apply it to your everyday life? Mindfulness is a strategy for maintaining open, non-judgmental presence and awareness in the moment. Matching Mind & Body includes a variety of lessons/topics such as Mindful Eating, Mindful Laughter, Mindful Spending and Mindful Kids. Participants practice breathing activities, guided relaxations and mindful meditations and are led in basic yoga poses, chair yoga or desk-ercises. No fee. Offered in a group setting.
